Through the passing of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital by President Joko Widodo in January 2022, the Ibu Kota Negara (IKN) of Indonesia will officially be moved to East Kalimantan. Following the vision of Indonesia 2045, this movement is based on efforts to equalize Indonesia’s economy across provinces. As consequences, Jakarta will no longer be the center of all Indonesian political, government, industrial, trade, and technological activities. However, this movement did not receive a positive response from all parties. The movement of IKN to East Kalimantan can generate problems, such as damage to the local environment. Apart from that, the transfer of the IKN is seen as ignoring the problems that exist in Jakarta without trying to fix them.
As an effort to provide a forum for ideas regarding IKN, the 18th Forum Studi dan Diskusi Ekonomi (FSDE) presented a series of events with the main theme “Advance to Ibu Kota Nusantara: Indonesia’s Initial Attempt towards Equitable Economy and Sustainable Development.” With the presence of this series of events, the community will gain extra knowledge of the perspectives, both pros and cons, regarding the IKN draft that has been announced by the Indonesian government.
